ARIX Technologies Launches VENUS RTR+PEC to Deliver High-Confidence, Full-Coverage Inspection Data

ARIX Technologies today announced the launch of VENUS RTR+PEC, a robotic Real-Time Radiography (RTR) and Pulse Eddy Current (PEC) solution designed to replace manual, partial CUI inspections with full-coverage visibility and high-confidence data.

By adding RTR to the proven VENUS PEC platform, ARIX enables:

    • Simultaneous RTR, PEC, and visual inspections. CUI can be detected and validated through an onboard visual camera which detects damaged insulation and ingress points – the precursors to CUI. RTR finds moisture in the insulation and detects corrosion, with clear visual evidence. PEC validates the corrosion findings and evaluates severity.
    • 360° full-coverage inspections, on both horizontal and vertical piping.
    • Superior image quality that resolves features as small as 0.005 inches (0.13 mm) due to a powerful 40-120kV X-ray source, to find smaller indications compared to handheld systems.
    • Faster scanning speeds up to 3.75 inches per second (95 mm/s) with clear images, using a high 66 fps frame rate, to enable maximum productivity and efficiency.
    • A unique and proprietary detector adjustment mechanism ensures the inspection object remains centered in the RTR images, regardless of variations in insulation thickness.
    • A compact design, range of compatible pipe sizes, and extensive obstacle traversal capabilities.
    • Inspection of pipe supports to find Contact Point Corrosion (CPC)/Corrosion Under Pipe Supports (CUPS) or CUI in the same inspection.
    • Repeatable and precise scanning with full data recording and localization, improving consistency across every inspection, and giving teams complete insight into what was inspected.
    • A complete and localized digital record mapped to a 3D model of each piping system, enabling clearer insights and more defensible decision-making.

Traditional inspection methods have long been constrained by limited access, manual execution, and incomplete data. Handheld inspections capture only limited scan lines or partial coverage, leaving large areas uninspected. Results are often operator-dependent, introducing variability and inconsistency, while critical indications can be missed. In addition, fragmented reporting makes it difficult to track inspection history over time, and labor-intensive execution limits how much of an asset can be inspected.

ARIX has already completed field testing of VENUS RTR+PEC with a major oil and gas operator on Alaska’s North Slope. The system successfully operated in extreme Arctic conditions, providing critical validation of its performance while generating insights that enhance mobility, imaging stability, and overall system reliability in challenging field environments.

“VENUS RTR represents a shift from incomplete inspection data to full visibility,” said Craig Malloy, CEO of Arix Technologies. “We’re giving customers the confidence that their inspection data is complete, consistent, and truly reliable.”

Beyond corrosion under insulation (CUI), VENUS RTR+PEC can support multiple applications—including contact point corrosion (CPC), coating failure, corrosion mapping through scabbing, and more—allowing operators to consolidate inspection workflows and expand coverage across more asset types.
